Our Editorial Standards & Guidelines
Last updated: April 2026 — Reviewed Quarterly
ⓘ Our Commitment
Volity is both a trading platform operator and a financial education publisher. We acknowledge this creates a potential conflict of interest. This page explains exactly how we manage that conflict to ensure our content remains accurate, fair, and useful to readers.
1. Content Creation Process
All content published on Volity goes through a structured creation process before it is approved for publication:
- Topics are selected based on reader need and search demand — not commercial interest
- Writers research using primary sources: official regulatory filings, broker terms and conditions, and verified financial data
- All statistical claims must be attributed to a named, publicly accessible source
- Drafts are reviewed by a senior editor before publication
- Commercial content (platform promotions) is always clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial content
2. Author Qualification Requirements
We require all content contributors to meet minimum qualification standards relevant to their subject area:
- Financial content authors must have demonstrable experience in trading, financial journalism, or a relevant qualification (e.g. CFA, Series 65, or equivalent)
- Authors disclose any personal trading activity or financial relationships that could create bias
- New authors complete an editorial onboarding review before their first article is published
- All authors are named on their articles — anonymous publishing is not permitted for editorial content
3. Fact-Checking Procedures
Before Publication
- Every factual claim (fees, spreads, regulatory status, platform features) is verified against the primary source at time of writing
- Regulatory licence numbers are cross-checked against the relevant authority's public register
- A second editor reviews fact-sensitive content before it goes live
After Publication
- Comparison pages and broker reviews are audited at minimum every 90 days
- Readers can flag outdated information using the feedback link at the bottom of every article
- If a factual error is identified, we correct it within 48 hours and note the correction at the bottom of the article
4. Review & Approval Workflow
| Stage | Responsible | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Author | Research, write, self-check against sources |
| Fact Review | Senior Editor | Verify all claims, check source links |
| Compliance Check | Compliance Lead | Confirm disclaimers, regulatory accuracy |
| Final Approval | Editor-in-Chief | Sign off before publication |
| Scheduled Audit | Editorial Team | 90-day review cycle for live content |
5. Corrections & Updates Policy
- Minor corrections (typos, formatting): corrected silently
- Factual corrections: corrected with a timestamped note at the bottom of the article explaining what was changed and why
- Significant errors: a correction notice is added at the top of the article in addition to the bottom note
- We do not delete or unpublish articles to conceal errors — corrections are transparent and permanent
- To report an error, contact: [email protected]
6. Content Update Schedule
| Content Type | Review Frequency |
|---|---|
| Broker & platform comparisons | Every 90 days |
| Regulatory & compliance information | On regulatory change or every 60 days |
| Educational articles | Every 6 months |
| News & market commentary | Not updated — date-stamped at publication |
7. AI Content Disclosure
Volity uses AI writing tools as part of its content production process. Our policy on AI usage is:
- AI tools may be used to assist with drafting, summarising research, or improving readability
- All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by a qualified human editor before publication
- AI-generated content is never published without human fact-checking and sign-off
- We do not use AI to generate fabricated quotes, invented statistics, or fake expert opinions
- Where an article has been substantially drafted with AI assistance, this is disclosed at the bottom of that article
8. Independence Statement & Conflict of Interest
Volity operates a trading platform and may earn revenue when readers open accounts through links on this site. We manage this conflict as follows:
- Editorial decisions (what to cover, how to rate platforms) are made independently of the commercial team
- Volity's own platform is subject to the same review criteria as all other platforms in our comparisons
- Where Volity appears in a comparison, this is clearly disclosed on that page
- No advertiser or partner can pay to influence editorial ratings, rankings, or review conclusions
- "Editor's Choice" designations are awarded based on documented criteria only — see our Review Methodology
- A full conflict-of-interest disclosure appears at the bottom of every article and comparison page
